Chhatrapati Shivaji  Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a legendary Indian warrior and ruler who lived in the 17th century. He is considered to be one of the greatest warriors of all time and is revered as a symbol of Maratha pride and valor. Shivaji was born in 1630 in the hill-fort of Shivneri, near the city of Pune in Maharashtra. His father, Shahaji Bhonsle, was a Maratha general in the service of the Sultan of Bijapur. Shivaji was trained in the art of warfare and strategy from a young age, and was known for his bravery and tactical skills. At the age of 16, Shivaji led a successful raid on the port of Rajapur, which was under the control of the Sultan of Bijapur. This was the first of many successful raids and battles that Shivaji would lead against the Sultanate of Bijapur.
